Rivers of Steel: Explorer Riverboat

Guests participate in metal arts workshops including iron pours, aluminum casting, blacksmithing, and graffiti art at the Carrie Blast Furnaces. Events include hands-on activities, guided tours, and opportunities to create and cast metal artworks. The site is a historic industrial landmark with limited amenities and outdoor uneven terrain.

What's included
- Basic registration includes iron pour, pop-up exhibition, and small mold casting
- Mold-making workshop includes up to 250 lbs. of sand and chemicals, waste removal, and consumables
- Blacksmithing workshop includes instruction and materials to forge a bottle opener
- Aluminum casting workshop includes instruction and use of pattern materials and casting process
Requirements
- No prior experience necessary for graffiti workshop
- Some prior forging experience recommended for blacksmithing workshop
- Participants must sign a liability waiver and consent to be photographed
